Scouts play an important role in the community as well as in helping the Community Action Food Bank meet the needs of our community.
During the 2011 Scouting for Food Drive, Scouts from the Utah National Parks District collected more than 350,000 pounds of food. Without this service, many in our community would go hungry.
In an effort to help Scouts on their path to becoming Eagle Scouts, we offer an opportunity to fulfill requirements needed in order to earn the Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge. Please be aware that day time volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Volunteers younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
The following requirement may be completed through CASFB:
7. Do the following:
a. Choose a charitable organization (CASFB in this case) outside of Scouting that interests you and brings people in your community together to work for the good of your community.
b. Using a variety of resources (including newspapers, fliers and other literature, the Internet, volunteers, and employees of the organization), to find out more about this organization.
c. With your counselor’s and your parent’s approval, contact the organization and find out what young people can do to help.
