Community Action Services & Food Bank (CASFB) is addressing a significant financial challenge and taking steps to strengthen our financial position and build a more sustainable future.
We recognize the importance of keeping our community informed about the decisions being made, the actions underway, and what these efforts mean for the individuals and families who rely on our services. This page will serve as a central source for updates directly from CASFB as we navigate this period.
Our Provo, Oakley, and Coalville food pantries remain open.
Please review our updated food pantry hours.
Our Heber Food Pantry will close mid-November.
We understand this change may affect individuals and families who rely on this location. Clients seeking food assistance can find alternative resources through Christian Center of Park City.
All other direct client services remain open.
Since 1967, CASFB has helped individuals and families access food, housing assistance, shelter, education, and other resources that support long-term stability and self-reliance. To protect and preserve this mission, we have launched a critical funding initiative to raise $1.5 million by the end of December 2026.
How Community Support Will Help: 100% of these contributions will directly pay off outstanding financial obligations and establish an essential emergency reserve, protecting CASFB against future challenges.
Progress Toward Our Goal: Thanks to the immediate generosity of our donors and community partners, we have already raised $250,000 toward this goal.
Every dollar brings us closer to stability. Your support ensures we can keep showing up for our neighbors when they need us most.

Leadership and Operations

Financial Oversight and Governance
Community leaders Val Hale and Sheldon Miner have joined our Board of Trustees. As Board Treasurer, Mr. Miner is leading interim financial management and leading a comprehensive review of our operating budget, programs, and services.
Organizational restructuring
As part of our restructuring, we faced the extraordinarily difficult decision to reduce our staff and part ways with valued colleagues. These are friends and professionals who dedicated their time, talents, and heart to our mission and community. We deeply appreciate their service and remain committed to supporting them through this transition.
We are thankful for the community members who have responded to our recent updates with donations, offers to volunteer, and messages of encouragement. As we work toward a more sustainable future, continued support will be essential to helping CASFB maintain access to the food, shelter, housing assistance, and other resources local individuals and families rely on.
