Over $45.5K. That’s how much it would cost to buy all the gifts outlined in the “Twelve Days of Christmas” song in 2022, according to financial services firm PNC’s yearly estimate. Fortunately, “lords a-leaping” and birds of various sizes don’t top too many people’s Christmas lists—and what they do need is much more practical and affordable.
Every year, Community Action Services and Food Bank (CASFB) focuses on filling the wishlists of those members of our community who are in special need during the holiday season. This year, CASFB is happy to announce its very own “12 Days of Christmas”—with a list that you can easily satisfy for around $60. Consider donating any or all items from our “12 Days of Christmas” kit list to our food bank.
12 Days of Christmas Kit List:
- Socks
- Toilet paper
- Cereal
- Fleece blankets
- Family-sized shampoo
- Dry beans
- Toothpaste
- Hamburger Helper/frozen packages of meat
- Canned carrots, peas, or frozen veggies
- Dry pasta (all kinds)
- Diapers (sizes 3–7) and wet wipes
- Spices
Items do not need to be wrapped, and donations of one or two items on the list are also appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at 815 S. Freedom Boulevard, Provo, UT 84601, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday. You can also spread the holiday cheer by challenging your church group, classmates, and family members to join in and participate in the 12 Days of Christmas with you. Think about the joy that could spread this holiday season if everybody recruited one other person to give 12 Days of Christmas! Be the one that starts the snowball of generosity rolling by inviting others to give with you.
If you’re strapped for time, though, CASFB always accepts monetary donations. Either way, please make your donation as early as possible so we can distribute your donations to help people before the holidays.
These 12 Days of Christmas may not have as many birds or musical instruments as the song would suggest, but with your help, it can have all the joy and cheer. On behalf of those in need, we thank you for your help and generosity this holiday season and wish you and yours a merry Christmas!
